This Ledaig 1995 is the latest release by the Wu Dram Clan. A sister cask of the many Ledaig, nay, Tobermory casks bottled by The Whisky Agency, WhiskyNerds, The Nectar and Valinch & Mallet earlier this year.
Ledaig 25 yo 1995 (50,6%, Wu Dram Clan 2021, hogshead #143, 231 btl.)
Nose: a bright fruity note up front, in between sour pineapple, lemon and green apple. Other stone fruits as well. In the background hints of hay and bread crust, with some herbal / floral notes. Very soft paraffin. Eucalyptus. Soft vanilla and oak. A very gentle, fresh and unpeated Tobermory.
Mouth: a light smoky impression unfolds now, but it’s still the juicy fruit that stands out (lime, kiwi) with hints of lemongrass, wax and ginger. The oak is slightly more prominent, as are the mineral notes and herbal tea. A dusty touch and a pinch of white pepper towards the end.
Finish: medium, with leafy and zesty notes on more of the herbal tea.
A mature and rather delicate Ledaig, another one of these virtually unpeated casks that feel closer to Tobermory than to Ledaig spirit. The quality of these casks seems to be close together. Nice one, already sold out as far as I can tell.
