Glencadam distillery is located between Dundee and Aberdeen, close to the lost distilleries North Port, Hillside and Lochside.
The Glencadam 25 Years was a limited edition launched in 2016 and still the oldest age statement in the core range. It is a composition of bourbon casks.
The Glencadam 21 Years was really good already, could this be worth a significantly higher price?
Glencadam 25 yo ‘The Remarkable’
(46%, OB 2016, 1600 btl.)
Nose: a fine nose, full of bright fruity notes, slightly tropical even. Pink grapefruit, papaya and whitecurrant. Juicy pear and marmalade. Floral honey. Subtle polished oak and leather. Rather perfect bourbonny Speysider.
Mouth: light but again a nicely juicy, tropical fruitiness. Guava, pineapple, lime. Sweet almonds, subtle nutty notes and pepper. Warm oak underneath. Easy drinking whisky with a nice balance.
Finish: long, with warm oak spices and late chocolate.
A really nice surprise, mainly due to the bright and tropical fruits. Taste-wise there is very little to fault, but the price is a bit heavy. Available from Master of Malt or The Whisky Exchange (also as a sample by the way).
