Laphroaig 30 Year Old ‘Ian Hunter series’
First-fill bourbon casks and filled at “high strength” (just 48%), that’s the recipe for an upcoming Laphroaig 30 Year Old. It is presented in a special book design (as seen with many other distilleries in the past few years) and Book One has the subtitle The Ian Hunter Story, referring to the last member of the Johnston family to run the distillery in the 1940s, before it was taken over by the manager Bessie Williamson.
This first chapter begins with ex-bourbon American oak because it was Ian’s decision to use this type of wood. It will be available in limited amounts from the end of September, from select retailers and the Laphroaig website. Book Two will hit the market in 2020.
Tamdhu 15 Year Old
After the recent Tamdhu 12, a new Tamdhu 15 Years is coming up, a limited edition bottled at 46%. Fully matured in sherry casks of course.
Glendalough 25 Year Old
Irish whisky company Glendalough will soon release the first bottling in its Connoisseur Collection, a range of rare single malts. This will probably be the Glendalough 25 Year Old, aged in bourbon casks and finished in a Spanish oak Oloroso cask and subsequently in a virgin Irish oak cask.
