We’re heading for Orkney again with this Highland Park 18 Years bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Perhaps the optimum age for this distillery?
Highland Park 18 yo
(47,8%, That Boutique-y Whisky Company 2018, Batch 5, 581 btl.)
Nose: one of the more floral examples (citrus blossom), with some sweet honey underneath and a background coastal side. Fresh minerals, orange bitters, light buttery notes and paraffin.
Mouth: very good. Starts on oranges, waxy notes and gravel, maybe some mirabelle and pineapple. Hints of sweet mustard. Herbal liqueur. Very light peat. Fades on buttered toast and charred oak.
Finish: quite long, on vanilla, lemons and some light, heathery smoke.
Most of the 2000s production I’ve tried from Highland Park recently was very good and this is no exception. Simply what we expected. Available from Master of Malt.
Score: 88/100
