Dried pineapple and golden apple slices. Buttery touches. Sweet barley and hay. Subtle wood spices in the background. It’s nicely rich and rather complex.
Mouth: quite oily, on sweet berries, yellow plums and sultanas, with some very bright, almost tropical fruits in the middle (papaya). Honey and toffee notes. Black pepper and other oak spices. Vanilla custard and fruitcake.
Finish: quite long, drier, with citrus zest, walnuts and marmalade.
The quality is high here, even though nothing really stands out. The oiliness and slightly tropical fruits on the palate are great though. Around € 280 from Master of Malt.
