The Lost Distilleries Blend (Batch 6)

Master of Malt has this Lost Distilleries Blend series, which contains only whiskies from closed distilleries. Batch 6 features malt whiskies from Mosstowie, Port Ellen, Glenisla, Imperial, Caperdonich, Glen Mhor and Brora, and grain whiskies from Port Dundas.

Given the low number of bottles, this is more likely a blend done by mixing bottles rather than casks.

Whisky Crackers - Drinks by the Dram

This sample came as part of the Drinks by the Dram Whisky Crackers. A nice box which contains six whisky samples wrapped inside a fire cracker. Something to remember when you’re choosing Christomas gifts (be quick though).

Nose: less fruity than how I remember Batch #4. It’s a more old-style Highlands profile. Lemons and apples with lots of grassy notes. Hay, some leathery hints and light dusty / peppery touches. Nicely delicate peat smoke in the background.

Mouth: quite oily and sweet. Stewed apples, citrus candy and a more pronounced peaty side. Light hints of tropical fruits. Tobacco and leather. Some coastal elements as well. Fades on mint and delicate antiseptics.

Finish: long and rather gentle, nutty, with salty notes and some oak.

Quite yummy indeed. Lots of old-style notes, balanced peat and very little influence from the grain whisky. Around € 485.

Score: 89/100
