This whisky was distilled in an undisclosed distillery, but from the hints given by Whisky-Doris, we know that it can only be Glenfarclas. It’s a 2000 vintage bottled as part of their 10th Anniversary releases.

Glenfarclas 12 yo 2000 (55,8%, Whisky-Doris 2012, sherry butt, 278 btl.)Nose: prunes, prunes, more dried prunes. And figs. Also Mexican chocolate disks. Lots of cinnamon, as well as a little cardamom and subtle smoke. Actually not very complex, the prunes and figs are the base of the whole dram, but they’re thick and lovely.
Mouth: thick and sweet again with a big dose of spices (cinnamon, clove, pepper). Figs, raisins and prunes. Quite syrupy although you also feel the malty youth underneath. Fades on cocoa powder.
Finish: long, on dried fruits with a dryness of toasted oak coming out.
One for sherry addicts – classic young Glenfarclas. A little simple maybe, but very focused, very good at what it promises to do, if you know what I mean. Around € 50 from Whisky-Doris.
