Littlemill 1992 (Maltbarn)

This is the tenth release by Maltbarn already. Littlemill matured in a bourbon barrel for 20 years.

Littlemill 20 yo 1992 (52,4%, Maltbarn 2012, bourbon barrel, 131 btl.)

Nose: quite mineral and oily at first, with little fruits. Lemon balm and leather. After a while it does show more sweetness: fruit gums, marzipan, candied apple. Vanilla cake. Nice evolution, and there’s a certain old-style dusty element that I really like.

Mouth: lemon, pink grapefruit and wax. Gooseberries. Sweet white grapes. A soft grassy layer as well; more bitter and mineral notes now. Quite typical for this period of Littlemill, all good.

Finish: medium long, more about zests than actual fruits. Some mint, oak and soft spices.

This Littlemill 1992 has a beautiful nose, above similar other releases I’ve tried. The palate is more simple, slightly bitter but still very enjoyable. Overall very good. Around € 105.
