Let me know when you’re bored with all these recent 20-25yo Littlemills. Personally I can’t help feeling delighted whenever a new one lands on my desk. This one is a 1992 bourbon cask in the Liquid Library series.

Littlemill 20 yo 1992 (51,6%, Liquid Library 2012, bourbon hogshead, 313 btl.)Nose: quite sweet, nicely complex and attractive. Yellow apples, green bananas, pear syrup, vanilla cake and toffee fudge. Then some green garden herbs. Warm leather. Cinnamon. A little glue, but in a nice way. Candied ginger. Very nice.
Mouth: still sweet, with a wonderful pink grapefruit theme, sugared lime juice (or limoncello?) and apple compote. Gooseberries. Again a certain herbal layer in the background, some grassy notes join in to bring more punch. Something tequila-ish. Vanilla. Less wide than on the nose, but very enjoyable.
Finish: medium long, with warming spicy oak and lingering zesty citrus. A faint salty edge.
I prefer the wonderful sherried versions, but this bourbon matured Littlemill is also very interesting. Around € 110.
