Whisky Show 2021 bottlings
The Whisky Show 2021 is on this weekend with three days of (live) shows as well as a virtual part. They’ve announced four show bottlings which celebrate superheroes of whisky in a series called Adventures in Flavour. The labels have a hidden third dimension if you look at them with typical blue/red 3D glasses.
These are the details for each bottling (left to right):
- Ardbeg 20 Years 2001 ‘Phenolic Phantom’ (refill bourbon, 51.4%, £ 450)
- Bunnahabhain 19 Years 2001 ‘Ester Elektron’ (sherry butt, 54.3%, £ 150)
- Blended Scotch 41 Years (sherry butt, 46.2%, £ 240)
- A Speyside Distillery 20 Years (sherry butt, 57.6%, £ 135)
Alongside this superhero series, there is a fifth bottle to celebrate Whisky Show’s return to real life, a deeply fruity Ben Nevis 1996 (51.2%, £ 250) of which only 100 bottles are available.
Ticket holders will have early access to buy them, but remaining bottles are sold through the TWE website. Also they are offering a sample set with all five bottlings.
GlenAllachie Wood Finish Batch 3
GlenAllachie distillery added three single malts to its Wood Finish range:
- GlenAllachie 11 Years Pedro Ximénez Wood finish
- GlenAllachie 12 Years Ruby Port Wood finish
- GlenAllachie 13 Years Madeira Wood finish
All three are bottled at 48% ABV and cost £ 60, 63 and 68 respectively.
Octomore 12
Bruchladdich presented the 12th edition of its heavily peated Octomore series. It includes three expressions:
- Octomore 12.1 5 Years 2015 (59.9%, 130.8 ppm, refill American whiskey barrels, € 140)
- Octomore 12.2 5 Years 2015 (57.3%, 129.7 ppm, American whiskey barrels + first-fill Sauternes finish, € 160)
- Octomore 12.3 5 Years 2015 (62.1%, 118.1 ppm, 75% first-fill American whiskey + 25% first-fill PX solera casks from Fernando de Castilla, € 190)

North of Scotland 1971 / Cameronbridge 1974 (Boogieman)
Boogieman Import is a series of whiskies from Passion for Whisky in Holland. Their latest bottlings are two Lowlands single grains:
- North of Scotland 49 Years 1971 (40.4%, € 400)
- Cameronbridge 46 Years 1974 (40.1%, € 380)
Both are available from their website as we speak, and I’ll be reviewing both in a few days from now.
