Balvenie Stories: The Edge of Burnhead Wood

The Balvenie seems to be preparing the second batch of its Balvenie Stories series. A new label popped up for Story No.6: The Edge of Burnhead Wood. It refers to the heather that is growing in Speyside, including in Balvenie’s own Dufftown Estate. Supposedly the barley was dried by burning heather?

This Balvenie is 19 years old and bottled at 47,8% ABV. It will probably be launched with two other new Stories.

Elements of Islay Peat & Sherry – TWE exclusive

We already had a (highly praised) Peat & Sherry bottling in the Elements of Islay series exclusive to Belgium a few months ago, one for Sweden, Germany, for LMdW… and now there’s also a version exclusive to The Whisky Exchange (still celebrating their 20th Anniversary).

It’s a richly peated, punchy dram (a mix of two distilleries) with plenty of sherry goodness (married in a single sherry butt). They have 400 bottles available for around € 60. Only from The Whisky Exchange.

Tomatin 1977 (Warehouse 6)

Tomatin has announced a new expression in the Warehouse 6 Collection: The Tomatin 1977, bottled from a Sauternes cask #38863 and supposedly full of apricots and honeysuckle. Just 390 bottles are available (49% ABV) at £ 3000 each.
