We’ve had some nice 1992 Highland Parks and judging by the age and bottling year, this could be the same vintage. It is Batch 7, one of the latest releases of Highland Park from That Boutique-y Whisky Company.
Highland Park 26 yo
(50,2%, That Boutique-y Whisky Company 2019, Batch #7, 598 btl.)
Nose: starts very mineral, with lots of wet chalk and grassy notes before it turns towards green banana, lime and fresh minty notes. Heather honey. Grapefruit zest, green apples, melons and some flinty notes. A little sunflower oil. Very natural, quite complex and beautifully balanced.
Mouth: wonderful really, it stays on these chalky notes but it bursts into passion fruits and tangerine now (reminds me of these peated 1991 Irish malts). Subtle cedar wood and vanilla. Earthy notes underneath. Crushed peppercorns. Lime.
Finish: rather long, on spicy notes and lingering fruits.
This is quite an amazing Highland Park. The fresh appeal starts on the nose and gets even more intense with bright, slightly tropical fruits on the palate. Mixed with the chalky, mineral notes this is quite a gem. Available from Master of Malt.
