I was a big fan of the Glen Keith 23 Years 1994 bottled by Asta Morris half a year ago. Most of these bottles went to Japan, now Bert has bottled a sister cask of which more bottles will stay in Europe.
Bert has some reservations towards the ‘ex-bourbon cask’ claim, but that’s the information they gave him.
Glen Keith 24 yo 1994 (51%, Asta Morris 2019, ex-bourbon, AM 129, 179 btl.)
Nose: thick, sweet and fruity. Creamy banana candy, honeysuckle, hints of coconut and guava. Vanilla cake with icing. Whiffs of marshmallows. A light toasted note and whiffs of varnish. Honey. Apple pie and cinnamon pastry. Very rich.
Mouth: still sweet and creamy, with a slight alcohol kick. Fruit eau-de-vies, coconut ice cream, loads of honey and baked bananas. Peaches on syrup. Pepper and ginger, as well as some minty / grassy oak towards the end, not unlike a bourbon whiskey indeed.
Finish: long, sweet and spicy. Still some toffee and peaches underneath.
Great stuff again, I’m glad it will be more widely available this time, you won’t be disappointed. Still available from TWE for instance.
Score: 90/100
