Glenrothes Soleo Collection
A few months ago we already announced the fact that The Glenrothes would ditch the vintage concept in favour of a classic age statement collection. While this is hardly ground-breaking, it’s quite surprising that all expressions are entirely sherry cask matured. Too bad the ABV is still very low.
Five expressions have popped up in stores:
- Glenrothes 10 Years (40%)
- Glenrothes 12 Years (40%)
- Glenrothes Whisky Maker’s Cut (48,8%)
- Glenrothes 18 Years (43%)
- Glenrothes 25 Years (43%)
In Spring 2019 they will also launch a Glenrothes 40 Year Old. I hope to look into the new expressions soon.
Cù Bòcan 1990 and 2003 vintage
Two new vintage Cù Bòcan expressions have been announced, the moderately peated whisky from Tomatin distillery.
- Cù Bòcan 2003, matured in peated Islay ex-sherry butts (46%)
- Cù Bòcan 1990, from peated Islay ex-bourbon barrels (52,9%, 1400 btl.)
BenRiach 12 Year Old Sherry Wood
The BenRiach is bringing back its 12 Year Old Sherry Wood expression. Originally a Taiwan exclusive, it was phased out in 2015 because of a sherry cask shortage.
It is a combination of three styles: full sherry maturation, as well as Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso finishes. In stores by the end of September for € 50.
Cladach – Special Releases 2018
Like last year, Diageo kept back one surprise bottling when announcing its Special Releases 2018. This has now been unveiled: Cladach, a blended malt composed around Clynelish whisky, with some Caol Ila, Lagavulin, Oban and Talisker, all the coastal distilleries of the Diageo group. Maturation is a mixture of American and Europen oak.

You can already pre-order the Special Releases by the way.
