The latest release by Whisky-Doris is an Ardmore 1992, something we’ve seen from plenty of bottlers lately.
Ardmore 20 yo 1992 (49,5%, Whisky-Doris 2012, bourbon barrel #4768, 134 btl.)
Nose: medium peat balanced by slightly tropical fruits as we often see in Ardmore. Tangerine sweets and gooseberries. A little wet fur and minerals. Soft sooty notes in the background. Very good although I’d say it’s slightly more subtle than similar casks.
Mouth: rather more peaty now, deep smoke and pepper. The fruity notes are now more of an undefined sweetness. Maybe oranges and apricots. Returns to earthy notes and liquorice.
Finish: long, herbal and peaty, with zesty grapefruit.
This one is very similar to the sister cask #4764 bottled in the Archives series (no surprise). Similar peat / fruits balance. Same score. Sold for € 85 by Whisky-Doris.
Score: 88/100
